Wounaan Indigenous Community
In Panama, there are 7 indigenous peoples, and one of the most representative is the Wounaan people, recognized for their art and ancestral bravery. Originally from the Darien region, on the border with Colombia, the Wounaan have inhabited these lands for centuries. Although some of them have migrated to other areas, such as the banks of the Chagres River, their culture and traditions remain intact.
Today, you can live a unique experience just minutes from the Panama Canal and the Gamboa Rainforest Reserve, visiting one of their communities and learning about their customs and traditions that remain an essential part of their identity. In addition, you can take a short tour through the forest, where you will discover the plants and trees they use to make their famous handicrafts.
